Unit One

Day 1 Linear Equations and Inequalities in One Variable

We will be solving linear equations with one variable.

We will be solving and graphing inequalities with one variable.

AND Linear Inequalities #2-10 even.

Assignment: Assignment #2 #1-25 Odd

At bottom of back page #11-16, 18

We will be creating linear equations that are parallel or perpendicular to a given line.

We will continue to work on "seeing" the horizontal and vertical lines at the beginning of a problem.

& Notes # 3 Pg 119 #1-9

Unit 2

- We will be calculating the solutions for absolute value equations.

- We will be creating the graph of and absolute value equation.

Unit 2.2

- We will determine the difference between a Relation and a Function.

- We will determine the domain and range of a relation and/or function.

- We will calculate a value when given a function.

- We will evaluate functions using the five operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, & composite of functions

Unit 3 Polynomials & Quadratics

We will factor binomials, trinomials & 4 term polynomials by 1st looking for the GCF!

Wednesday, Sept. 28 (W)

Unit 4 Polynomials

- We will divide polynomials by completely factoring the numerator and denominator then canceling common factors.

- We will use long division to divide a polynomial by a binomial.

- We will use synthetic division to divide a polynomial by a linear binomial.

- I have attached below some book examples for dividing polynomials by long and synthetic division.

Unit 4.4 End Behaviors, Degree

- We will determine the degree of a polynomial and the maximum number of turns it can have in its graph.

- We will determine without graphing which directions the ends of a polynomial graph will be going, up or down. This is called their End Behaviors.

I have attached notes we did in class. I didn't get them cleaned up. Sorry! Perhaps they can help some.

Review for last page of Unit 3 Test

Assignment: Assignment #21 Problems listed on sheet. STUDY FOR QUIZ (Last page of Unit 3 Test)

Quiz (Retake from Unit 3 Test, last page)

Check out overview in the attachments

Tuesday, Nov. 22

Unit 4.5 Remainder & Factor Theorem

- We will use the Remainder Theorem to calculate the the remainder on the division problem without using long or synthetic division.
- We will use the Factor Theorem to determine if the divisor is a factor of the dividend without using long or synthetic division.

Then the assignment #23 wkst is in attachment right below the notes. Due Tuesday, Nov. 29!

Unit 4.6 Solving linear inequalities & Systems.

- We will be solving linear inequalities on paper by hand.
- We will be solving systems with graphing calculator.

Alg. 2 Review of polynomials

- You are to read the directions and look at what information is given to understand what work you are to do to answer the question.

Semester One Review

We will review work with assignment #25.

Then start with Semester Review

Assignment: Review for semester exam, Assignment #26 #1-20. (Operations with functions & graphing a parabola.)

Wednesday, Dec 7 (P)

Square Roots

We will simplify square roots.

We will do some reviewing from this semester.

Assignment: #27 Simplifying Square Roots

More with Square Roots

We will rationalize the denominator.

We will solve square root equations.

Assignment: #28 Rationalize denominator and solving square root equations

Tuesday, Dec. 13

We will discuss questions over Rationalizing denominators and solving square root equations.

Complete the odds by showing work then check the answers online. WHEN you have completed and checked your answers then try and take the even problems as a test of your own, without looking back at the odds!

Period 3 Alg. 2 EXAM

Unit 6 Matrices

- We will organize data with matrices

- We will learn how to write equations from matrices and then solve for the unknowns.

Pg 156-158 Practice & Apply

#10-27 & 35, 36

Pg. 158 Maintain #43 - 57

- We will add & subtract matrices.
- We will multiply by "distributing" a # (scalar) to each element of the matrix.

Unit 6.3

We will multiply with matrices.

We will use algebra properties with matrices.

Wkst Multiplying & Solving Matrices

#1-24 ALL

- We will calculate determinants of a matrix

- We will solve systems of equations using Cramer's Rule. Which uses determinants of a 2x2 & 3x3 matrices.
