Watch the stoichiometry videos listed on monday's agenda.

AUGUST 11
we will review for the test next time and get into the mol stuff.  we DID NOT cover empirical and molecular formulas in chemistry 1, but we are going to focus on that today.  Watch videos 4.5,4.6 and 4.7 on the previous link.  I don't have notes for it, but watch the video on combustion analysis empirical formulas.  These are SUPER important and are the usual type given on AP exams.

August 12 and 13
Make sure you have completed the Student Information Sheet.  See the link from thursday and friday if you did not complete it.

quiz on lab safety on Wed and Thurs.

Watch the stoichiometry videos listed below.

August 28/29
Make sure you've gone over the practice tests and worked them.  I have a new link to a combustion analysis problem.  Ask about it if you didn't understand the video.

Study for the stoich test next time.

Chapter 4 assginment is up.
Watch videos below for Sept.  for new topics.

august 30/Sept. 3
test on stoichiometry

work on homework when finished or watch the videos for next time.

see my links from last time for the the videos.  I will have expected you to have seen these by class time!!!

SEPT 4 AND 5
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE watched the videos on ppt. reactions.  also try to have watched the video link on redox reactions.  these are two of the categories you are not familair with.  If you have time,  watch the videos on how to balance redox equations.

Sept 4 and 5
We will go over types of reactions .  Make sure you've seen the videos.

Get the lab from me  Purple day people.

Lab next time!!!!

Sept 24/25
Purple labs DUE on Sept. 30.  White labs due Oct. 1.  Time to review.  make sure you have the review guide for this unit handy.

Sept 26/27
practice test and answers.  DONT LOOK AT ANSWERS UNTIL YOU HAVE TRIED THEM ALL!!

Oct 7/8
get a chrome book and watch the THREE videos on calorimetry and specfic heat and Hess's Law.  Links to my videos are BELOW.  If you want to watch one and do homework, then go back, be my guest.

Then login to your mastering account and work on your homework.

Oct 7 and 8
Watch the THREE videos below and then go to MasterChemsitry  (link above on the side menus) and work on your homework.   you may want to watch a video, then go do appropriate problems, then watch another video.

Videos are in order that you should watch them.

Finish packets.  Do problems for each.  Labs due we'd and thurs

Nov 25 and 26
Happy Thanksgiving!!  See you next week!!

Finish packets with groups.
Turn in labs if you did not do so.
Work on chapter 7 homework.  It is NOW posted.  Not too tough, just use the rules and reason we learned in the modules.

Remember,  electron affinity is the energy gained or released when an atom GAINS an electron.  Therefore,  the MORE NEGATIVE the electron affinity, the EASIER it gains an electron.

SMALLER atoms have GREATER Electron affinity for TWO reasons,

higher core charge to GRAB the electron,  Electrons closer to nucleus in smaller atoms, so greater attraction.

DEC 9 and 10
EXAM on Electrons and Periodic Properties

Dec 25 Jan 2
Yes, there is bad news.  We are going to have to do a Christmas break assignment.  We are so far behind that we just can't help it.  This is the EASIEST thing that we could do for this type of assignment.

Follow all the links below to obtain all of the assignments.  You are on your own, but email me or text me to get help.  There will be online homework as well to help guide you along the way.

There are two videos to watch.  They are VERY good.

Jan 6 and 7
things are looking worse with the weather predictions.  I'm going to try to post a link for you to take a test if possible.  you would take the test online.  this would eliminate, I think, the free response portion of the test.  If I can, we will still have free response.   I am going to post the next material to study and new homework as well.   With the cold weather and snow predicted, we might not be at school for some time.  I'll keep you posted.

jan 7 PM
New plan.  read the test from the PDF and then take it.  Take all the time you want to submit.  Rumor has it that we may not be going again tomorrow.  So enjoy!!

Here is the test good luck.  Make sure you send it to my email.  you are on an honor system.  Do your OWN work.  You may use your notes, but NOT your friends.

Remember, if you can't take the test today, and I need to know by 1PM, you MUST take another at school.  If I don't hear from you and you don't take the test, then you will take the one at school.

If you cannot see the submit test icon at the bottom left corner of the test, it is icon on the LEFT.  The RIGHT icon will cancel all of your submissions.  Make sure you put your name and student ID on the test.  Good LUCK!!!

Jan 10 and 11
I am posting links to a wikispace for notes that we will use the rest of the year.  Since we are losing more days, we need to spend less time on notes.  So, these notes will be the ones we use in class.  They are not totally detailed, so videos and your book will fill in the gaps.  There are videos at this site that go along with the notes.    They will contain information that I may or may not get to in class.
I am also posting a link to a chemistry course at Ohio State.  They are broken down by topic.  If you have a hard time with a topic, watch one of these videos.  they only last 6-10 min.  Use them when the other videos don't work for you.

March 31-April 2
Check with me to see if you are missing any assingments from the previous nine weeks.  Grades will be posted TUESDAY.  So Purple people need to stop by and check.

Check the old links for the packet for chapter 13.  Also go to chemmy bear and download the bluffer's guide for kinetics.

attached is the lab that we will be doing over rates.

nov. 10
attached below are the study guide and the bluffers guide.  Bluffers guide tells you the most important things to know for a test, even if you don't really know them, you can bluff your way through.  well, maybe.lol

I would recommend for multiple choice,  going to chemmybear.com and doing his multiple choice questions for chapter 21.  He also has more FRQ as well.
