Students are shown different manufacturing techniques and processes that include turning, tapers threads, knurls, and tool setup on the lathe. Squaring, cutting, drilling, tool and work setup using the milling machine. Arc welding, setup, starting arcs, beads, squaring stock being welded together in the fasting unit. Cutting, folding, layout, tabs, seams and fastening with sheet metal tools in the sheet metal unit. Safety, speeds and feeds, precision measurement are also covered and used in class to make a variety of projects.
 
Projects for machining include: Tool box, Hammer, Welding plate, Drift punch, Parallel bar, Welding tubing.
 
Like Machine Fundamentals: Sign up for Advance Machining next year with your counselor.
 
Projects for Advance include: Sheet metal project of their own design, ATV Flag holder, V-Block, C-Clamp, and a final 6 week project that they design and build.
