We will be creating linear equations that are parallel or perpendicular to a given line.

We will continue to work on "seeing" the horizontal and vertical lines at the beginning of a problem.

  • We will be calculating the solutions for absolute value equations.
  • We will be creating the graph of and absolute value equation.

  • We will determine the difference between a Relation and a Function.
  • We will determine the domain and range of a relation and/or function.
  • We will calculate a value when given a function.

Unit 4.2  Dividing polynomials
  • We will divide polynomials by completely factoring the numerator and denominator then canceling common factors.

Unit 4.3  Dividing Polynomials using long division.
  • We will use long division to divide a polynomial by a binomial.

Unit 4.3 (Part 2) Dividing Polynomials using Synthetic Division.
  • We will use synthetic division to divide a polynomial by a linear binomial.
  • I have attached below some book examples for dividing polynomials by long and synthetic division.

Assignment:  #19 Part two in attachments below. Due Monday, Nov. 14

Unit 4.4  End Behaviors, Degree
  • We will determine the degree of a polynomial and the maximum number of turns it can have in its graph.
  • We will determine without graphing which directions the ends of a polynomial graph will be going, up or down.  This is called their End Behaviors.

Assignment:  #20  #1-10  Don't worry about letter (d) and the two e's would be found by factoring and solving for x.

I have attached notes we did in class.  I didn't get them cleaned up. Sorry!  Perhaps they can help some.

Unit 4.5 Remainder & Factor Theorem
  • We will use the Remainder Theorem to calculate the the remainder on the division problem without using long or synthetic division.
  • We will use the Factor Theorem to determine if the divisor is a factor of the dividend without using long or synthetic division.

Assignment:  NOTES for assignment #23 are in the attachments below marked as "Alg. 2 Unit 4.5 NOTES Complete, Assignment #23"

Assignment:  Type 3 writing   AND Complete Review problems for the Alg. 2 final exam.

Complete the odds by showing work then check the answers online.  WHEN  you have completed and checked your answers then try and take the even problems as a test of your own, without looking back at the odds!
